TONGYIZHONG UHMWPE fiber reaches 7960 tons/year

HZinfo：Recently, Beijing TONGYIZHONG New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as TONGYIZHONG) stated on the investor interaction platform that the current production capacity of TONGYIZHONG UHMWPE fiber has reached 7960 tons/year, ranking second in China according to existing public information.

Public information shows that TONGYIZHONG's main business is the research and development, production, and sales of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers and their composite materials. According to the latest performance report, TONGYIZHONG's revenue in 2024 was 649 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.41%, and its net profit was 130 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 15.25%.

On December 10, 2024, TONGYIZHONG announced that the supervisory board had approved the company's acquisition of Ruisheng Investment Co., Ltd., the existing shareholder of Chaomeisi New Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as Chaomeisi), for RMB 243 million in cash OlympusSummitHoldings,Limited、 Shengou Group (China) Co., Ltd. and SuperlativeHong Kong Investments Limited hold a total of 75.80% of the shares in SuperMax, and the funds for this transaction are sourced from their own funds. After the completion of this transaction, the company will hold 75.80% of the shares of Chao Meisi and include it as a controlling subsidiary in the scope of consolidated financial statements. Among them, Chaomeisi has a design capacity of 5000 tons for aramid fiber and 2000 tons for aramid paper.

Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber (UHMWPE fiber) is one of the three high-performance fibers (the other two being aramid and carbon fiber), with a molecular weight usually above 1 million. It is composed of carbon hydrogen macromolecular chains and has ultra-high strength, modulus, and excellent chemical stability. It has many excellent properties such as ultra-high strength, ultra-high modulus, low density, wear resistance, low temperature resistance, UV resistance, shielding resistance, good flexibility, high impact energy absorption, and resistance to strong acids, strong alkalis, chemical corrosion, etc. The main application areas include bulletproof vests (70% of global demand), marine engineering (cables, fishing nets), aerospace, medical implant materials (artificial joints), sports equipment (rowing, skis), etc.

According to data monitored by iBuyChem Research Institute,as of the end of 2024, the total production capacity of UHMWPE fiber is about 100000 tons per year, with China accounting for over 66%, and the rest mainly distributed in the Netherlands, the United States, and Japan.

From a global perspective, the main production companies are Kyushu Interstellar, DSM from the Netherlands, Honeywell from the United States, Toyo Textile from Japan, and TONGYIZHONGzhong.

From the perspective of the Chinese market, the UHMWPE fiber production capacity is about 66000 tons, with the main production enterprises being XINGI TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD. (with a production capacity of 30000 tons, ranking first in the world), TONGYIZHONG (with a production capacity of 8000 tons), Zhejiang Qianqianlong Fiber Special Fiber Co., Ltd. (with a production capacity of 8000 tons), and Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibre Co., Ltd.
