Hz info,On August 13,Mega P&C revealed on an investor interaction platform that the company's photovoltaic coating production line was completed in July and is currently in the acceptance phase. Its photovoltaic coatings can be used for offshore solar power generation.
In recent years, with the advancement of the "dual carbon" goals and adjustments to subsidy policies, the new energy power generation market has entered a new development stage driven primarily by policy guidance. In 2021, onshore wind power entered the era of grid parity, national subsidies for offshore wind power were withdrawn, and photovoltaic power generation officially bid farewell to central government financial subsidies. Instead, it gained long-term development momentum under the framework of the "carbon peak before 2030, carbon neutrality before 2060" targets. At the policy level, efforts are not only directed towards tilting the energy structure towards non-fossil fuels and accelerating the construction of wind and photovoltaic projects, but also towards enhancing industry competitiveness through mechanisms such as the carbon trading market. This has provided broad space for related industries in the new energy sector.
As a leading coatings supplier in China's wind turbine blade and container sectors, Mega P&C has, while consolidating its core businesses, continuously diversified in recent years into areas such as photovoltaics (PV), marine, offshore engineering, energy storage, power, and data centers. The company is committed to building a tiered business pattern referred to as the "Mega P&C Industrial Coatings Tree." Among these, the photovoltaic field is one of its key strategic focuses.
In the second half of 2024,Mega P&C acquired Covestro's assets related to nanoscale photovoltaic glass coatings. The coating solution involved utilizes advanced nano-material technology, featuring high light transmittance, excellent weather resistance, and long lifespan. It can effectively enhance the power generation efficiency of PV modules, extend their service life, and thereby reduce the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for photovoltaic power generation. Mega P&C's photovoltaic glass anti-reflection coating is suitable for various PV power plant needs. Major application scenarios include offshore photovoltaics (salt spray corrosion), regions with extreme climates, dusty areas, aesthetic applications for villa rooftops, and the refurbishment of existing power plants. Currently, its single-layer high-transmittance T88 photovoltaic anti-reflection coating has made progress with downstream customers. Products like PV frame coatings and offshore tower coatings are also under development.
Regarding the development plan for its photovoltaic coating business, Mega P&C explicitly stated that based on the successful integration work completed in 2024, the focus in 2025 will be on achieving bulk sales to key customers. This will lay the foundation for the full-scale development of this business in 2026. The goal is to make the photovoltaic coating business the company's third major profit contributor within a relatively short timeframe, while also reserving ample time for the "steady and stable" development of its marine coatings business.
With the completion of the production line acceptance and the subsequent advancement of mass production, this business is expected to synergize with wind power and energy storage, further enriching Mega P&C's industrial layout in the new energy sector.
