China Epoxy Resin Market Review in 2024

2025-01-06 16:20

In 2024, the consumption momentum in the downstream terminal coatings, electronics and other industries of epoxy resin is obviously insufficient. The imbalance of supply and demand growth has led to a slowdown in production capacity growth. The price amplitude has continued to narrow, industry losses have intensified, imports have shrunk, and exports have increased significantly. According to data from the Chemical Plastics Research Institute, the highest price in China's epoxy resin market in 2024 is 14,300 yuan/ton, the lowest price is 12,400 yuan/ton, and the annual average price is 12,968 yuan/ton, a decrease of 6.6% from 2023 (13,885 yuan/ton). %. In recent years, the growth rate of epoxy resin production capacity has gradually slowed down, and the new production capacity has not been realized as expected. In 2024, with the commissioning of Henan Sanmu and Tongling Shanwei installations, the total production capacity of the epoxy resin industry will reach 3.46 million tons/year. After the high expansion of epoxy resin capacity, the contradiction between supply and demand has become prominent, and industry profits have been continuously squeezed. Enterprises Investment enthusiasm has declined, and the commissioning of some new equipment has been delayed or cancelled. In the context of abundant industry supply, obvious product homogeneity, and insufficient follow-up of terminal demand, competition among enterprises will further intensify. Domestic epoxy resin exports will reach a new high in 2024, with a year-on-year increase of more than 50%. From January to November 2024, China's epoxy resin exports reached 242,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 54.03%. With the overcapacity of epoxy resin, domestic epoxy resin exports have increased significantly, with the average export growth rate in the past three years reaching 36.7%. Competition in the domestic epoxy resin industry is fierce, and companies are actively exploring overseas markets. The substantial increase in export volume has also triggered the United States, India, and the European Union to launch anti-dumping and countervailing investigations against Chinese epoxy resin.
