New breakthrough in gas phase POE of Dushanzi Petrochemical

Polyolefin elastomer (POE), as a high-end new chemical material, is widely used in fields such as automobiles, photovoltaics, wires and cables due to its excellent flexibility, aging resistance, and processing performance. However, for a long time, China's POE production capacity has been severely insufficient, and the situation of relying on imports has not been effectively improved.

Dushanzi Petrochemical Company (hereinafter referred to as "Dushanzi Petrochemical") has successfully developed gas-phase polyolefin elastomer (POE) production technology with years of technological accumulation and innovative breakthroughs, becoming the first domestic and second global enterprise to master this technology, marking an important step forward for China in the field of chemical new materials.

Technological breakthrough: Localization of POE production using gas-phase method

POE, as a high-performance elastomer material, is known as the "soft gold" of plastics, and its production technology has long been monopolized by foreign companies. The traditional POE production process mainly adopts the solution method. Although the product quality is stable, the process flow is complex, the cost is high, and the equipment requirements are strict. After years of technological breakthroughs, the Polyolefin Division II of Dushanzi Petrochemical has successfully developed a gas-phase POE production technology, breaking through key technical bottlenecks such as high content low-carbon alpha olefin copolymerization, catalyst systems, and thermodynamic equilibrium reconstruction.

Compared with traditional solution methods, gas-phase POE production technology has advantages such as shorter process, lower cost, and stronger scalability. In 2024, Dushanzi Petrochemical achieved industrial production of gas-phase POE for the first time in China, with key product indicators reaching the level of similar modified and photovoltaic POE in the market, successfully breaking the foreign technology monopoly and filling the domestic gap. This technological breakthrough not only enhances China's independent production capacity of POE materials, but also provides strong material support for the development of China's new energy industry.

Capacity Enhancement: Efforts Behind 15000 Tons of Production

In 2024, Dushanzi Petrochemical fully utilized the favorable window period for production and research and development, intensively carried out trial production of new products, and successively developed 6 new products of ultra-low density and ultra low density polyethylene series. The key indicators of these new products have reached the market level of similar modified and photovoltaic POE, further enriching the company's product structure and enhancing market competitiveness.

On November 18, 2024, Dushanzi Petrochemical's third expansion of production was smoothly carried out, and the year-end output successfully exceeded 10000 tons.

Recently, the production has reached 15000 tons.

The achievement of this result is inseparable from the hard work of all employees of the Polyolefin Department II of Dushanzi Petrochemical and the continuous innovation of the technical team. Dushanzi Petrochemical has also become the first domestic and second global enterprise to master the gas-phase POE production technology, successfully seizing the high ground of chemical new material technology.

Honor added: Selected as one of the top ten technological advances of China Petroleum

On January 15, 2025, the Polyolefin Division II of Dushanzi Petrochemical successfully selected the "Development and Commercialization of Gas Phase Polyolefin Elastomer (POE) Technology" as one of the top ten scientific and technological advances of China Petroleum in 2024. This honor not only highly recognizes the technological innovation of Dushanzi Petrochemical, but also demonstrates its leading position in the field of chemical new materials.

Dushanzi Petrochemical Company stated that it will continue to increase research and development investment, optimize production processes, further improve the quality and production capacity of POE products, and strive to achieve the goal of expanding production by 50000 tons by 2025. At the same time, the company will actively promote the transformation and upgrading of existing facilities, optimize the industrial structure, build a complete POE new material industry system, ensure China Petroleum's competitive advantage in the field of chemical new materials, and promote high-quality development of the enterprise.
