Here are 15 of the largest Chinese ink manufacturers, both domestic and international.

The Chinese ink industry is one of the largest markets in the world. Ink World examines the Chinese ink industry, looking at 15 of the largest printing ink manufacturers in China, with the help of the China National Coatings Industry Association.

DIC (China) Co., Ltd.

With $4.1 billion in graphic arts sales, DIC Corporation is the world’s largest ink manufacturer. Aside from inks, DIC Corporation also produces pigments and synthetic resins, among other products. All told, DIC has 17 plants in China; DIC (China) Co., Ltd. is the largest, producing offset, flexo and gravure inks.

In 2023, Yip’s Chemical has consolidated sales of US$411.45 million (HKD3.22 billion, with Bauhinia Variegata Ink’s revenue at US$154.27 million (HKD 1.21 billion). The company produces gravure inks, flexographic inks, offset printing inks, screen printing inks, UV inks, digital inks, eco-friendly processing materials for printing, and laboratory testing services.

Shenzhen Inkbank Graphic Technology Co., Ltd. (INKBANK) is a leading provider of ink and inkjet solutions, including Wwater-based pigment Ink for DTF, DTG, and roll-to-roll textile, UV ink for graphic arts and label, and dye sublimation ink for textile. In 2023, the production and sales of digital inkjet ink of the INKBANK Group reached a record high with $86 million in sales, and net profit continued to grow. Among them, the DTF digital printing ink and industrial UV inkjet inks recognized by the domestic and foreign markets have maintained a strong growth momentum. In a major move, in August 2023, INKBANK Shanghai Branch was established to provide more convenient and quality service for customers in East China. The fourth-largest international ink manufacturer, Siegwerk had sales of $1.36 billion in 2023. Siegwerk’s focus is on liquid packaging inks, and the company has a particular emphasis on the Circular Economy. Siegwerk has long been active in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as in China; in 2016, the company set up its INKube Packaging Ink Solution Center in Shanghai.

A sheetfed offset ink producer headquartered in Maoming, Guangdong Province, Maoming Sakata Inx Co., Ltd. was originally a joint venture between Sakata INX, the third-largest international ink manufacturer, and Maoming Huacai Ink Co., Ltd. On Feb. 28, 2024, Maoming Huacai Ink Co., Ltd. purchased the remaining  63.26% stake of Maoming Sakata Inx Co., Ltd. for a reported CNY 69.5 million. At the time of purchase, Maoming Sakata Inx Co., Ltd.’s sales were reported to be 219 million CNY ($31 million).
