Hz info:Zhanxin Resin (China) Co., Ltd. has recently launched a technological transformation project to add 9,513 tons of annual resin production capacity. The project involves a planned investment of 10 million RMB to upgrade existing production lines. This upgrade will significantly enhance the capacity and production efficiency of its East China base, further solidifying its leading position in the high-end resin sector.
Located within the company's existing facility at No. 127 Taishan Road, Suzhou National Hi-Tech District, the project entails the addition of 25 imported and 1 domestic equipment set(s), the phasing out of outdated machinery, and process optimization. Upon completion, the site's total annual production capacity will reach 15,300 tons of acrylic resin, 8,700 tons of alkyd resin, and 2,000 tons of amino resin. This will increase the plant's overall resin capacity from the current 16,487 tons to 26,000 tons annually.
The technological upgrade features a comprehensive redesign using Emerson's DCS system for full-process control. While maintaining the stability of the existing product portfolio, the project aims to achieve capacity expansion through optimized processes and increased automation. This decision is driven by a dual focus: actively responding to Suzhou's policy for upgrading aging equipment in chemical enterprises by replacing control systems that have been in continuous operation for over 15 years, thereby enhancing intrinsic safety; and aligning with the coating industry's green transition trend by expanding the supply capacity of high-solid, low-VOCs industrial coating resins, thus strengthening the company's competitiveness in the environmentally friendly product market.
Established in 2001, Zhanxin Resin (China) Co., Ltd. was formerly known as Akzo Nobel Resin (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. After several ownership changes, it was renamed from Nuplex Resins (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. to its current name in 2017. As a leading supplier of high-quality raw material resins for the coating industry, the company primarily produces acrylic, alkyd, and amino resins. Its products are widely used in construction, automotive, rail transportation, and other sectors. The company has reported an average annual taxable sales revenue exceeding 1.7 billion RMB, with tax payments of approximately 37 million RMB, and was designated as a Key Chemical Monitoring Point in Suzhou in 2024.
Notably, in response to global raw material price fluctuations, Zhanxin Resin (China) Co., Ltd. adjusted the price of its powder coating polyester resin products upward by 500 RMB per ton effective March 1st this year, to mitigate cost pressures and ensure stable supply.
As a global leader in industrial coating resins, the Allnex Group operates across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Greater China, with annual sales exceeding 2.3 billion euros. It maintains 34 production bases and 23 R&D technical support centers worldwide. In China, the Allnex Group has established a comprehensive production network through five main companies: Zhanxin Resin (China), Allnex Resins (Foshan), Allnex Resins (Changshu), Allnex Resins (Shanghai), and Allnex Advanced Materials (Jiaxing). Their business focuses on coating resins, widely used in automotive coatings, rail transportation equipment coatings, furniture paints, appliance coatings, 3C coatings, and other industrial coating sectors.
In East China, the Allnex Group is accelerating the construction of its Jiaxing production base. The project, with a total investment of USD 180 million and a planned annual capacity of 138,000 tons of high-performance industrial resins, has seen substantial progress. Since partial commissioning in August 2023, the project is currently undergoing Phase I optimization. According to a technical transformation plan disclosed in February 2025, Allnex Group will invest an additional USD 5.88 million in a "zero-land-expansion" upgrade to enhance capacity and optimize the product mix in existing workshops.
Concurrently, Allnex Advanced Materials (Jiaxing) Co., Ltd.'s project for an annual output of 120,000 tons of energy-saving and environmentally friendly powder coating polyester resin was announced on July 2nd. This new project, with a total investment of 472.66 million RMB, plans to expand the existing site by 54,000 square meters and build four new powder polyester resin production lines. Once completed, it will achieve an annual production scale of 120,000 tons, including 14,300 tons of indoor polyester powder resin and 105,700 tons of outdoor polyester powder resin, further enriching Allnex's product portfolio in the environmentally friendly coating resin sector.
Beyond capacity expansion, the Allnex Group is actively pursuing industrial partnerships. On April 14th, Chongqing Huahui Coatings Co., Ltd. and Allnex China formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Chongqing. The two parties will engage in in-depth technical collaboration focused on the new energy vehicle coatings sector, working jointly to promote the innovative development of high-performance, high-appearance coating resin systems and support the upgrade of China's automotive coatings industry.
